Dr Alison Giles


Dr Alison Giles joined Collaborate in April 2016. She has spent 18 years in public health policy, initially as Associate Director at the UK Health Forum (formerly National Heart Forum), a policy think tank devoted to the prevention of avoidable non-communicable disease. This was followed by a two-year secondment to the Department of Health to lead the cross-Government physical activity strategy before her appointment by the North West Strategic Health Authority in 2007 to establish and lead the social enterprise Our Life.

Alison currently works in a freelance capacity providing insight, analysis and policy research to inform organisations’ strategy. Her clients have included Oldham Council, the Greater Manchester health and social care transformation team, and the Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care (CLAHRC) North West Coast.

Alison has a PhD in Cancer Research and a Masters in Public Health. She is a trustee of Breast Cancer UK and of Groundwork Cheshire, Lancashire and Merseyside.
